ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany City Manager Sharon Subadan wants to take power away from the Albany Utility Board.
She says purchasing decisions for the Utilities Department should be made by the city commission, not the Utility Board.
Subadan said came to that conclusion after reviewing the city charter and seeking legal advice.
"My understanding is that the city commission needs to make those approvals so what I've asked the utility board to do is to make recommendations and that's the nature of the change," Sharon Subadan said.
Subadan says she is open to discussion about the change.
