According to a report, 25-year-old Dorothy Reardean died just after 5 p.m. Monday.
Officials said the shooting happened around 5 p.m. Sunday.
The GBI said the Reardean and her son were in a car parked in front of their home on Cutter Road near Douglas.
They said that her 4-year-old son found a gun in the car, and thought it was a toy. That's when he picked it up and pulled the trigger.
