ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Traffic fatalities were up by 14 percent nationally within the first 6 months of the year.
Experts say that the increase in people traveling due to lower gas prices is part of the reason.
They also believe that higher speed limits and distractions while driving are also playing a role in the increase in traffic accidents.
Trooper First Class Jack Stripling with Georgia State Patrol says that they are seeing more people texting and emailing while driving. Stripling says that electronic devices are continuing to distract drivers on the road.
