ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Two leaders elected to represent the same folks in Dougherty County talked with those constituents tonight at their first joint town hall meeting.
Ward Six County Commissioner Anthony Jones and Ward Six School Board member Dean Phinazee listened to residents' concerns at the Albany Police Department.
Jones gave an update on storm drainage projects, street light improvements, and raises for county workers.
Phinazee talked about starting a College and Career Academy to replace the Early College program.
"Because it's very important for the people to know exactly how the wheels of government work," said Anthony Jones, Ward Six County Commissioner. "We want to be transparent also."
"One of our promises to the people is that we would be transparent and that we would have community input into what we do," said Dean Phinazee, Ward Six School Board Member.
They hope to hold joint town hall meetings at least two or three times a year.
