Wreck leads to burglary arrest

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Moultrie Police are taking a closer look at the man now charged with breaking into Old Mexico Restaurant to see if he's responsible for other business burglaries.

It didn't take much to find Ramsey Dennis.  Police arrested him near the crime scene after they say he was caught on video stealing cash from Old Mexico. But it's going to take a while to see if he is connected to other smash and grabs. "Officers were actually able to see the guy actually running from the crime scene," said Raul Leal, of MPD.

Leaving the restaurant with a broken window and a bit of relief. "I'm glad you got caught, and I hope you learned your lesson," said Jessica Contreras.

Dennis is no stranger to the restaurant. Employees say the they've seen him around before. "It's crazy. I don't see why he would come in and do it again, knowing that he has surveillance camera."

Contreras says that she's happy he got caught, especially after a series of other smash and grabs in downtown Moultrie. "Luckily thanks to the cameras we got to see who it was and to the police who were close by and came in and got him"

Police say that Dennis may be connected to those crimes as well. "This actually is a guy we suspected of  more than likely once we get DNA back from other cases, it's possible that the offender on this case will get charged with several other burglaries," Leal said.

Although they are waiting on DNA evidence to go through, he's has been charged with burglary.
