ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Hundreds of Albany State University freshmen are enjoying their first weekend in the Good Life City.
More than 400 students attended freshman convocation Friday afternoon.
The lighting ceremony officially inducted the Class of 2019 as Golden Rams.
They learned the keys to succeeding in college from a former ASU student government president.
"I wanted them to get the message. Know when to nae nae, and know when to whip," said convocation speaker Teddy Reese. "Know when to step away from things, and know when to walk in the room with confidence and pride. And I think they got it, I think they really enjoyed it."
His analogy energized the students and prepared them for the first day of class on Monday.
