Returning students spur business

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Business owners are glad to see Albany State University students return to town.

Many shops and restaurants get a boost in business when school is in session.

"We're going to purchase and going to be suppliers of economic support, but we're also going to be individuals who eventually I think will lead in the economic rise of the city," said Vice President of Student Life Danette Saylor.

"When Albany State is out for the summer, everything in the city slows down," said Gordon Hall, who owns Shabazz Fish Supreme. "Because of the students living on-campus, off-campus real estate everything slows down because the students are gone."

Hall said he looks forward to introducing new students to his restaurant that's right across the street from campus.
