BOSTON, GA (WALB) - The city of Boston has a new Police chief and three other new officers to provide 24 hour protection.

Jimmy Peeples was appointed chief after serving as the city's part-time officer while the department worked on rebuilding its force.

After serving nearly 15 years in law enforcement in Thomasville and in Brooks County, he said he has the skills to provide the quality protection for the city.

"This is my hometown," said Chief Peeples.  "I have a passion for Boston and I want to be able to be here and give back and take care of my home."

Earlier this year, the city fired the previous chief, two officers resigned, and one died in a crash.

Chief Peeples is planning community events to build relationships between the new officers and Boston residents.
