Veterans not shy about complaints in VA town hall

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Veterans did not hesitate to voice their concerns about health care issues at a town hall meeting with Veterans Affairs leaders.

Congressman Austin Scott hosted a veterans town hall in Tifton Wednesday afternoon with the Director of the VA hospital in Dublin and the Director of the VA Regional Office in Atlanta.

Those in attendance came for solutions to problems they care about.

"I came to see Congressman Scott today for some support with the lower limb prosthetic legislation that is being considered right now," said veteran Jim Young.

"What was promised to you is just not given to you," expressed veteran Johnny Major. "And I think that more should be done in this country in order to make the veterans feel like they are more appreciated. It's okay to have parades, it's okay to talk all of this good stuff. But we need action, not words."

The VA plans to open a clinic in Tifton in 2016, but officials did not give veterans an opening date.
