ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany has a startling problem with sexually transmitted diseases.
Rentapplication.com ranked the 100 most sexually diseased cities. Albany came in at number 51.
Public Health Officials say rates of Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis are high in our area, especially among 17 to 24-year olds.
"One thing about, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis you can receive treatment," said Jacqueline Jenkins, Epidemiologist. "One of the things you have to do is to get yourself tested. Getting tested means that you know your status, so you can get treated."
Public health officials say HIV infections are also increasing.
They're partnering with Friendship Baptist Church August 22nd for a Wellness Health Fair that will include free HIV testing.
