DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Some kids enjoyed playing inside a fire truck at Robert Cross Park today. It's all part of a back to school bash put on by the Dougherty County "Youth" Commission.
They helping promote education and fun in Albany. Besides school supply giveaways, there was lots of games and entertain for families.
"Today was about a number of things one community unity. We wanted to see families come out to just enjoy just a tremendous days and one of the most wonderful park in all of Dougherty County and we want to put focus on education," John Hayes said.
More than a thousand people came out to enjoy the festivities.
The group said they planned for about two thousand people to come out to the first annual bash. They believe they achieved that goal.
