COFFEE CO., GA (WALB) -

Coffee County Firefighters said it took four hours to control flames after a chicken house caught fire Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the chicken house at the 300 block of West Chicken Road around 1:30 p.m.

Chief Steve Carver said the flames started at the center of the chicken house and spread, due to the ventilation unit inside.

Six engines and firefighters from five stations were all on scene to control the fire.

Chief Carver said all of the chickens inside died.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
