CORDELE, GA (WALB) - A man is recovering as police continue to search for the man who shot him multiple times.
Police have not named a suspect, but I'm told they hope to do that soon.
54-year old Robert Ashley was sitting on his porch around 10 o'clock Sunday night when he was shot three times in the leg and a fourth time in the hand.
Police were on scene on 20th Avenue for much of the night collecting evidence and talking to neighbors.
At least one officer was a couple houses down when the shooting happened but they were not able to catch the fleeing shooter.
"They were able to see the person running from the scene. They were not able to catch him because they also have to make sure that there are no other shooters and make sure, check the victim," said Detective Ketorie Sales with the Cordele Police Department.
Detective Sales says Ashley is recovering well and hopes to leave the Macon hospital soon.
The shooting does not appear to be random, but police have not talked about a possible motive.
