ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Parents were busy this evening signing up their kids for an Albany Area YMCA Afterschool program.

Sign-ups for the 21st Century Program took place today at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, Live Oak Elementary and Alice Coachman Elementary Schools.
It's a partnership with the school system that provides meals while focusing on academic enrichment.
The Program director says it's getting results.

"Last year we served 522 students so that was very exciting,” said Erin Hutchins, Program Director of 21st Century Program. “We have reached so many and the kids did very well last year on their report card grades. They are turning in their homework more and they are just getting the extra help that they need to be successful.”

Space is limited.
The program kicks off at all three locations on August 24th.

Students can still sign up during the first week of school.
