CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Georgia Veterans State Park is ready for students who have begun reporting for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year.
The park offers excellent field trips that cover a wide range of classroom material, with four miles of nature trails that can be explored, and is an excellent teaching tool.
This trail offer examples of invasive species to Georgia, natural habitats for wildlife and is great exercise.
Students can also tour indoor museums and outdoor exhibits. The park's indoor museum features artifacts dating from the Civil War to the recent Gulf War. The outdoor exhibits include a B-29 Superfortress, a Sherman tank, a Patton tank and a "Huey" helicopter.
All nature trails and museum tours are guided by Amanda Norris, Activities Coordinator and the cost is $1.00 per student. There are picnic tables available for lunch.
The park is open seven days a week and scheduling a tour would not be an issue for multiple class field trips. For more information, please call Georgia Veterans State Park at (229) 276-2371.
