ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Chris Cameron took his talents from Dougherty Co high school, to Tulane University and even turned pro. He hosted the Cam Sports College Skills and Drills Showcase this afternoon.
Around 25 athletes came to Turner gym in Albany to take part in the intense workouts and prove they are college ready.
Coach Cameron is the head of Cam Sports Athletic Recruiting. He said this camp will ensure the region isn't overlooked at the next level.
"We just looking for the guys to come in and compete and show us what kind of skills they have, said coach Cameron. "A lot of times a lot of guys get overlooked. not that they can't play on the next level, it's just that they haven't been seen by the right people So this is the opportunity to come and let us evaluate you."
He plans to send evaluations of players to colleges where they could be a good fit.
"The camp has been very intense, said Westover High school guard Allec Williams. "A lot of good one on ones, passing drills, dribble-drive, kick, shooting. Just a whole all-around good camp."
Coach Cameron plans to host a similar camp with this fall. Next time he plans to have college coaches in attendance.
