ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Georgia's Department of Transportation is trying to make it easier for shoppers to get where they're going during the tax holiday.
Starting early Friday morning, they suspended road work within 5 miles of shopping areas.
"We understand that during the sales tax holiday there's going to be an increase in traffic flow around major shopping centers and shopping outlets." said District Construction Engineer Scott Chambers. "So, in an effort to help facilitate around those shopping centers we're going to restrain lane closures."
Road work will begin again on Sunday.
