Inmates get education and other assistance while incarcerated

Autry State prison officials say work to rehabilitate prisoners starts  the moment they enter the facility.

Warden Ted Philbin says every inmate is different.

Some need help with substance abuse, others need help in the education department.

They offer job training skills and the opportunity to get GEDs so the risk of them coming back to prison lowers.

“Its not a one size fits all if they need adult basic education ,they will be called up by a teacher, tested and placed in that class. If they need GED they will be tested for that and be places in that class,” says Warden Ted Philbin.

They also can get different job training skills.

There day starts at five in the morning and eat, throughout the day attend different work details and other call outs.
