ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany woman, convicted of accessory to murder in connection with the murder of a Florida couple in 2009, has died in prison.

Officials confirmed 54-year-old Pamela Long Wiggins died July 23, 2015 behind bars in a Florida state prison, where she was serving a 28-year sentence for her role in the robbery and murder of Byrd and Melanie Billings in their Pensacola home.

Prosecutors said Wiggins hid the weapons used in the murder, and buried a safe in her backyard.

In April, Wiggins was denied a medical release in reference to an unnamed terminal illness.

She was buried this week at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany.
