ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A new ranking puts Georgia's education system in the bottom third in the country.
Wallet hub ranks Georgia schools 36th overall.
The Dougherty County School Superintendent believes schools are getting better. He says local numbers show higher test scores, improving graduation rates, and better attendance rates.
"Well we've placed a lot of accountability on our principles and our staff and the leadership team in doing more to increase opportunities for our children," said Dr. David Mosely, Dougherty County Superintendent. "Holding children to task, encouraging them to be at school everyday, encouraging them not to drop out."
Dr. Mosely says the system has a strategic plan to continue those improvements each year. The study ranked Massachusetts highest and Alaska worst.
