Stores prep for weekend sales tax holiday

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Workers are stocking shelves with back to school items to prepare for this weekend's sales tax holiday.

Clothes, shoes, computer equipment, and back to school supplies are included in the tax holiday.

The manager of Staples on Slappey Boulevard is anticipating big crowds. They even hired additional staff to handle one of their busiest times of the year.

"[It's] crucial, because if we don't hire the people to get them here in time, once the shopping day is over we have to recuperate and get the store ready for the next day's business,” said Kenneth Boone, General Manager. “So it's crucial that we have those people in place trained and ready to put the freight out where it needs to be, so that when it's the next day of business  customers come into  a fresh store."

Tax-free shopping runs from midnight Thursday through Saturday night.
