ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany City commissioners approve a funding agreement to keep two tourist attractions operating.

The new city budget includes $200,000 for the Flint Riverquarium and $100,000 for the Civil Rights Institute.
Commissioners formally approved deals to make sure the money is spent properly.

“All of those entities provide quality of life kinds of things, tourism kinds of impact on our community and certainly we want to help them to be able to do what they do, but at the same time we have to be accountable and we want to make sure that we have the documents,” said Mayor Dorothy Hubbard.

The Riverquarim and Civil Rights Institute must provide the commission an update on their operations every three months.
