New grant to help student literacy in Worth Co.

WORTH CO., GA (WALB) - It's like school for teachers and they're excited.

"I wish I was back in Pre-K it was awesome," Blaire Dallas said.

Worth County Pre-K teacher Blaire Dallas is excited about the technology lab, thanks to the Striving Readers Grant money.

"It's really incredible it has it's own computer program touch screen for the kids to where it's completely interactive," Dallas said.

But Pre-K doesn't get all the perks.

The district has purchased more than 300 Google Chrome books and a rolling touch screen.

"They're used to using technology every day so we're learning how to incorporate that into our classrooms," Amy Chafin said.

The goal of all of this is to make sure that every child is engaged and reading better.
Superintendent Kay Matthews says this was something that the School District really needed.

"We haven't had the money to fund. The type of data analysis training that we have today could have never afforded that without this grant," Kay Matthews said.

With the training and technology involved everyone in the district is excited to start the new year.
