TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - A lot of south Georgians are applying for gun carry permits.
In Tift County the probate court processed 487 applications through June compared to 438 over the same period last year.
One Tifton gun seller traces the increase back to the Sandy Hook Elementary School attack two and a half years ago.
"We saw a very substantial increase in sales both home and carry guns *sigh* I am going to be honest with you it was quite crazy at that point," Amy Atkins said.
Atkins says most people come in to buy smaller guns for personal protection.
