GBI releases Thomasville infant's cause of death

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Thomasville GBI Assistant Special Agent in charge Bahan Rich says that preliminary autopsy results show the Thomas County child who died last week died from "position asphyxia."

Thomas county Sheriff's Office says 21 month old Dallas Beltran suffocated when he got stuck between the kitchen counter and the refrigerator in his home.

Investigators say the boy may have climbed up on the counter and fallen between them.

They're not sure how long the child was stuck there, but investigation shows it could have happened any time between 7:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m

GBI says no other injuries were noted, and that they're still waiting for final test results.
