Albany NAACP responds to Confederate flags

Albany NAACP leaders say they want to ease tensions following a Confederate flag rally last weekend.

Rebel flag supporters paraded through Lee County Saturday then gathered at the east Albany Walmart.

The display upset many people who say they're offended by the flag.

The local NAACP President says he's pleased with law enforcement efforts and wants to keep the city calm.

"People harassing people, said Albany NAACP president Derrick Linkhorn. "If that's something you believe in, that's something you believe in. You can't force your will upon other people. You can't go in their communities with your issues."

Linkhorn says to contact law enforcement if you feel threatened. Also if you would like the assistance of the NAACP you can contact them via 229-432-7941 or
