More e-mails related to the Kendrick Johnson investigation were, as of Friday, in the hands of the U.S. Attorney's Office conducting the investigation.
Lowndes County's attorney confirmed to WALB over the phone Friday that members of U.S. District Attorney Michael Moore's office were at Lowndes County's Information Technology Service Department part of Tuesday and Wednesday gathering e-mails from several sheriff's office employees.
The county's attorney said he did not know what the members may have been looking for or how many e-mails were gathered.
Johnson was found dead in a rolled up gym mat in the Lowndes High gym in January 2013. The sheriff's office concluded that the death was an accident, but Johnson's parents continue to argue that he was murdered.
In October, 2013, Moore's office began an investigation into Johnson's death. As of Friday, the investigation was ongoing and there was no word on when it may be finished.
