AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - An Americus man continues to criticize a city ordinance he believes limits free speech.
Craig Walker held up signs during tonight's council accusing some leaders of racism.
He says the council doesn't want to hear about issues affecting black and poor people.
"With those council members names that I had on that sign, everything with them is black and white. They want to keep us down or back or don't want us to progress when Americus belongs to nobody. We all need to go up together," said Craig Walker, Concern Resident.
The rules allow citizens to speak briefly at a council meeting, but only on issues on that meeting agenda and only if they sign-up ahead of time.
Non-agenda items must be submitted in writing and the council must agree to add them to the agenda.
