Americus charter school prepares for "Parent Volunteer Day"

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Officials at the first charter school in Sumter County are encouraging parents to help them prepare for opening day.
      Furlow Charter School will host A Parent Volunteer Day Saturday.
     Parents will help clean up classrooms before more than 300 students start school August 3rd.
     The Principal says the goal is to have the school ready for Tuesday's open house.

"Fixing our media center, said Dr. Emmanuel T. Vincent, Principal. We have some donated books that we have to get those books on the shelves. Parents are going to be lifting furniture putting those in the advisors classrooms. We're going to have parents making sure that the cafeteria is ready, that the grounds ready. That everything is ready for opening day."  
    

Parent Volunteer Day is Saturday from 9 to 12.
     Open House is July 28th from 6 to 8.

    On Wednesday, March 22, 2017, Procter and Gamble (P&G) donated $10,000 to Albany State University’s (ASU) Global Sustainability Project. The project focuses on energy sustainability efforts taking place throughout the world and teaches students about the mass communications careers relating to global sustainability, like an environmental journalist.
