Endowment fund set up in memory of former student

A new endowment fund has been set up at ABAC in memory of a former student.

Daren Brownlow died in a car crash in February 1991.
Since then his mom has donated scholarship money to the college.

Recently, she decided to set up an endowment in his name to continue to help students interested in agricultural careers.
Brownlow was an Ag student and lived in rural Iowa for a time where he helped out on his uncle's farm.

“It gives me chills to know the money she used to set up the endowment was going to pay for Daren's college, and she wanted to do something good with that money, and she thought what better way to honor his memory then to develop an endowment," says Jodie Snow, Chief Operating Officer of the ABAC Foundation.

It gives us some flexibility to identify incoming students  that are deserving, not necessarily financial but because of what their passion is," says Dr. Jerry Baker, Dean of Agriculture and School of Natural Resources.
The endowment can help students pay for books and tuition.
