ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The daily, destructive thunderstorms are taxing the Albany Utility Board's linemen.
Utility officials say their 10 linemen have gotten a lot of overtime in the last couple of weeks, dealing with storm damage.
Utility Operations Director Jimmy Norman said "They've been dealing with downed lines and power outages nearly every night.Always taxing on the employees. The heat of the day, wearing all the F.R.clothing and rubber goods they have to wear to stay safe. Working long hours at night. It starts wearing on them pretty good."
Norman said the Albany Utility Board is working to install a meter detection system that would automatically report power outages and speed up repairs.
