MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, GA (WALB) -

There was a new man in charge of Moody Air Force Base as of Thursday.

Col. Tomas Kunkel took command from outgoing Col. Chad Franks during a change of command ceremony Thursday morning. Col. Franks had been the commander at Moody since 2013.

Col. Kunkel comes to Moody from fort Belvoir, Virginia, where he was vice director and then director of the joint personnel recovery agency.

"Jen and I are extremely humbled by the opportunity to serve again at the 23rd Wing at Moody Air Force Base. I owe this day to many of the incredible Airmen, both past and present, among you all today," said Col. Kunkel after officially assuming command, as he addressed those in attendance at the ceremony.
