ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Owners of businesses in an upscale Northwest Albany shopping center are improving security after several have been targeted by burglars.

Since Sunday, burglars have targeted at least four businesses in the Shoppes at Lancaster Village on Lake Park Drive.

The owners of Green Envy Garden and Gifts found pry marks on a window Tuesday, and cash from the register was missing.

The same thing happened at Wild Side Running on Sunday.

We'll add some extra security, which costs money," said Wild Side Running owner Chris Phillips. "But we just have to change protocol a little bit and be a little bit more proactive."

Phillips said crime hurts small businesses and keeps them from being able to give back to the community.
