ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Sentencing has been set for four people charged in a deadly salmonella outbreak traced to a Blakely peanut processing facility.
Stewart Parnell, Michael Parnell, and Mary Wilkerson will be sentenced on September 21st at 10:00 AM in Albany Federal Court.
Samuel Lightsey will be sentenced October 1st at 3:00 PM, officials said.
Last September, a federal jury convicted Peanut Corporation of America owner Stewart Parnell, his food broker brother Michael Parnell, and PCA secretary Mary Wilkerson, for knowingly shipping salmonella-tainted products, and covering up unfavorable lab tests.
Lightsey, the plant manager, plead guilty to six charges. At trial, the government suggested a six year maximum sentence since he cooperated with prosecutors.
