Police identify victim in Moultrie shooting

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Investigators released the name of the man who was shot outside of a home.

The shooting happened around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night on 5th Avenue.

According to police, Thomas Edwards was shot in the hip as he was walking down the road coming from a friend's house.

Investigators said a man approached Edwards and asked for a lighter.

Once he had it, officers said he stole $11 and some house keys from Edwards, and then shot him three times before running away.

There was no immediate word on the condition of Edwards.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black striped shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Moultrie Police.
