ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany City Commissioner believes Albany's recent interim city manager had too much power.
Former interim City Manager Tom Berry hired new police and fire chiefs.
Commissioner Bobby Coleman isn't saying Berry made poor choices but he does say it would be better if those decisions are made by a permanent city manager in the future.
He wants to change the city charter to make it clear an interim city manager does not have that power.
"The standard operating procedure for the city manager and if it does not state the interim then I don't think the interim should be making that decision," Bobby Coleman said.
Commissioners said they would review the charter but did not agree whether they would have any in-depth discussion on Coleman's suggestion.
