LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Repairs to the Lee County courthouse could cost as much as $1.5 million and take as long as 3 years.
Crews began assessing the outside of the building Tuesday.
County leaders hope to start repairs in a few months. This phase only addresses the outside of the building.
"So they're going to be testing the metal, testing the bricks, the mortar, all those kind of things to make sure that we apply our money to the right places to fix the courthouse," said Lee County Administrator Ron Rabun.
Storms caused extensive damage to upstairs rooms in the courthouse.
