Albany Aviation Commissioners say problems with the airport's communication system have been going on too long. They say the FAA has investigated dead spots in radio communication between pilots and ground personnel but haven't determined a cause or provided a solution. Commissioners say it's been a problem for more than a year and they have safety concerns.
“It's a significant safety issue because two airplanes that can't talk to each other and can't see each other have the potential to be on the same runway at the same time and a potential collision,” said Frank Middleton, Aviation Commissioner.
Middleton says they plan to take their concerns to city Commissioners.
