Jury selection in the case of a Baker County man charged with the murder of an 87 year old in 2013 will take place.
Ulysses Blackshear, Junior has been in and out of prison since the late 80's for crimes that include robbery and aggravated assault. But most recently has been charged of with the murder of 87 year old William Land of Newton.
It was September of 2013 when authorities say Land's body was found at his Clearlake Road home during a wellness check.
The Newton Police, Baker County Sheriff's Office and GBI teamed up to conduct a full investigation after ruling it a homicide.
Shortly after Blackshear, Junior was arrested. Officials have not released how the 87 year old was killed.
At this time it's also unclear how the two knew each other.
If Blackshear, Junior is convicted he could spend life in prison.
Trial will take place at the Baker County courthouse. WALB will continue to follow this story as it develops.
