Lee County Residents clean up the waters

LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

Teams of volunteers got up early this morning to help clean out the rivers in Lee County.

Its all part of the annual "Rivers Alive Cleanup" Volunteers go in canoes and kayaks along the Kinchafoonee and Muckalee Creek gathering debris and garbage. It wrapped up at Chehaw Park.

"Its going to be better than forty miles that will be covered today, and the goal to remove as much trash in the river and the banks as possible," Jim Wright said. 

The Flint Riverquarium and Chehaw Park officials also had animals out for families to see.
