Saturday morning kids were swimming, biking and running for medals at the YMCA Superkidz Triathlon.
The event took place at the YMCA Sports Park.
While others were recovering from a fun Friday night...these "Superkidz" were getting active.
The distances of the cycling, swimming and running were broken up by age groups.
The triathlon was a way to keep kids active in the summertime. After the medal ceremony many of the kids stuck around to enjoy some free swimming in the heat of the sun.
One girl won a bronze medal and bragging rights over her older siblings.
“I beat my brothers," said Chloe Bowser. "And they didn't win any medals.”
The organizers of the event were pleased with the effort of all of the participants.
“We had somebody's chain come off and we kept them going on their bike," said health and wellness director Donnette Lewis. "So (I liked) just seeing that the kids completed."
"[I liked] watching the families of these children participate with these children," said health and wellness assistant director Sam McCormick. "They were an integral part.”
The kids who participated ranged from 4-14 and the families were offered a free family pool day following the event.
