Driver dies after morning crash

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany police have reported that the driver involved in a one vehicle accident on Palmyra road this morning has died.

Police said the driver of a Ford F250 crossed Palmyra Road, struck several trees, and flipped before coming to a stop.

The driver was ejected from the car, while the passenger was found sitting on top of the truck.

Through further investigation, police said it appears that the driver may have had a medical emergency, which caused the driver to lose control.

The driver and passenger were both transported to Phoebe Putney Hospital.

The driver later died from injuries.

The passenger does not appear to have life-threatening injuries at this time.

Police said it appeared the driver was not wearing a seat belt, but the passenger was.

WALB is waiting for all family members to be notified before releasing the names of the driver and passenger.
