TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - Young and new farmers got an opportunity to learn the business side of the industry in Tifton.
Ag Georgia Farm Credit held their first Ag Aware program at the UGA Conference Center. The program focuses on helping the farmers develop good business plans for their farms.
Facilitators also educated growers on the potential loans and opportunities for funding. "We definitely don't want the farmers to get out there and think it's just about producing a crop and not worry about the finances because that's so much a big part of the business operations," said Corey Cottle of Ag Georgia Farm Credit.
"It's good for the young farmers to learn how to manage their money, how to manage their debt load and their profit margin," said Tony Bozeman.
Cottle says they hope to have another Ag Aware event in Fort Valley in the coming months.
