THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

The summer months are some of the most crucial for blood donations as demand often increases and fewer people give blood.

Harveys will partner with the One Blood organization in Thomasville to help build supply for South Georgia hospitals.

Each donor will walk away with a $10 Harveys gift card.

Landis Clemmons said he donates in spite of his fear of needles, just to help others.

“We take a lot of things for granted, while there are other people up in a hospital room and they really need this kind of thing,” said Clemmons.  “So why not? Sit here for a couple hours and you could be saving somebody's life.”

The Harveys Blood Drive will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday on Jackson street.
