VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta-based credit union was asking Wednesday for your help to feed the hungry.

Southeastern Federal Credit Union was looking for sponsors for its "Fill-A-Truck" drive that starts September 1st.

You can donate money or put out a food collection box in your business. The goal is to fill a semi trailer full of non-perishable food items which will be donated to Second Harvest food bank.

"The statistics are staggering. One in four people in the communities that we serve are struggling with hunger," said Southeastern Federal Credit Union Marketing Manager Courtney Gooding. "They don't know where they're gonna get their next meal, and even more so with children."

Sponsors planning to make a monetary donation need to be signed up by July 31st. Sponsors planning to place a collection box in their business need to be signed up by August 14th.
