VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A Valdosta Police Department Narcotics Unit investigation led to the seizure of over three pounds of marijuana with a street value of over $27,000.00 on Tuesday.

Agents found out that a shipment of marijuana was going to be delivered on North Patterson Street.  They arrested Shaneisha Frazier, 27,  and D’Cota Washington, 23, who had picked up the marijuana.

Both Frazier and Washington were arrested without incident and transported to the Lowndes County Jail, where they are being held pending a court hearing.

"I think they knew they were caught," said Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress. "What I'm proud of is, that's $27,000 worth of drugs that's not gonna be out there now being passed either hand to hand or sold to our citizens."

Frazier was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and Washington was charged with party to the crime of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

When asked if investigators had any leads as to where the package may have been sent from, Chief Childress would not specify. "I would just say that we're investigating the possibility of where they came from," Chief Childress stated.
