Some South Georgia job seekers said Wednesday there were jobs available in South Georgia...but landing them was tough.
The Goodwill Career Center in Valdosta held a job fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday. Around 10 businesses and organizations were on hand to answer questions and provide information about their company for the job seekers.
Dominique Miller said he had been looking for a job for about a year while in college but there was a lot of competition, especially during the Summer.
"College students and the people that come fresh out of high school, they're tryin' to find a job also," Miller expressed. "I've been stayin' pretty confident the whole time I've been lookin'. I've always been a confident person, so I think that's helpin' me along the way."
According to the Georgia Department of Labor, as of Wednesday the latest numbers showed the state's unemployment rate to be 6.3%. The national unemployment rate was listed at 5.5%.
