THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Kids in Thomasville are searching all around town for the beloved Where's Waldo character.

Waldo is a nationwide program put on by independent bookstores to help them during the usually slow July month.

Several Waldos hidden inside locally-owned stores not only attract young kids, but also give adults a chance to check out what the town has to offer.

The Bookshelf Owner and Managing Partner Annie Jones said, “It is so fun to watch the children run in the store.  They run full speed ahead trying to find him. I think they love looking for him.  Parents love it because it gives their kids something to do in the summer.”

The search for Waldo lasts all July, ending with a party where kids can win prizes donated by Thomasville stores.

The Bookshelf on Broad Street is selling “passports” to keep track of the number of Waldos each child can find.
