ARLINGTON, GA (WALB) - The GBI has arrested Donald Wayne Reeves, 57, of Blackshear, after Reeves was indicted in Calhoun County for the 1984 shooting of Arlington Police officer Jimmy Jackson.
On the night of February 21, 1984, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Arlington Police Officer Jimmy Jackson was shot once, in the forearm. Jackson underwent surgery and recovered from his wound.
The case went cold until November of 2013, when it was reopened and investigated by the GBI, Arlington Police Department, Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, Ware County Sheriff's Office, and Pierce County Sheriff's Office.
Reeves was indicted by a Calhoun County Grand Jury on May 26 of this year and a bench warrant for Reeve's arrest was issued on June 9.
Reeves was taken into custody on June 24 and is being held in the Ware County Jail.
Officer Jackson is now a Sheriff's Deputy in Early County.
