Former Worth Co. Magistrate Court Clerk arrested

WORTH CO., GA (WALB) -

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested a former Worth County Magistrate Court Clerk.

Tammy Hall Powell of Sylvester was arrested Monday night.

She is charged with Obstruction –Hindering Law Enforcement and Violation of Oath of Office.

A press release from the GBI said Powell, resigned from her position in June of this year, because she provided confidential information about a search warrant to William Neal Gay, also of Sylvester. 

Gay then provided the information to other individuals, jeopardizing a law enforcement investigation. Gay has also been arrested and charged with Obstruction - Hindering Law Enforcement and False Statements.

Powell was booked into the Worth County Jail.

Gay was booked into the Dougherty County Jail.
